She is also the chair of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Humboldt State University. She is a member of the College Steering Committee of the Student Press Law Center. She is also a member of Investigative Reporters & Editors, Inc. She is author of the book Investigative Reporting: From premise to publication (Holcomb Hathaway Publishers, 2009.)
