Humboldt State Mascot Change

“It doesn’t have to be a human, and that way you don’t have to get into a big debate.”

Humboldt State University is known for its tree-filled campus and our lovable Lucky the Lumberjack mascot. However, some take offense to the patriarchal figure, so we asked HSU students what they’d replace our mascot with if Lucky were to be changed.

What would you change our mascot to?

Can we please focus on things that are more important? That would require rebranding of pretty much everything. Have you all calculated the cost of it? Where’s all that money going to come from and what could it be better spent on? The mascot still makes sense to me. We are known for our forestry program. Explain to me like I’m 5 because I don’t get how this logger is offensive to women. Just because it’s a male form? If you want to change it to anything just make it a female logger mascot and empower the women in our CNRS programs. The name is gender neutral already. Less expensive alternative
